Summer School

Summer School

We cordially invite you to the 2026 Summer School. The Summer School is designed for dance educators working not only in elementary arts schools but also in dance studios, elementary schools, and anyone else interested in creative dance pedagogy. The theme of this year’s Summer School is “Improvisation as a Creative Method.”

DISCOVERING THROUGH DANCE - SUMMER SCHOOL OF THE DUNCAN CENTRE CONSERVATORY

For the 2026 Summer School, we have chosen the theme Improvisation as a Creative Method.

The many paths leading to improvisation constantly intertwine, build upon one another, deepen, and return in various forms and approaches.

- Eva Blažíčková, METODA DUNCAN/ MYŠLENÍ TANCEM, Praha 2025

The summer school is designed for dance educators working not only in elementary arts schools, but also in dance studios, elementary schools, and for anyone else interested in creative dance pedagogy.

In this seminar, we will explore improvisation, which is a fundamental part of the Duncan method - both when working with children and with adults. We will also explore working with music as a source of inspiration. Together, we will ask ourselves the following questions: How can we develop creative potential? How can improvisation be used to foster natural and healthy movement? How can we work with musical accompaniment as a source of inspiration to stimulate dance? How do sources of inspiration differ for different age groups?

Participants will explore the following topics:

- Improvisation

- Methodological approaches

- Music as a source of inspiration

- Other sources of inspiration

Graduates of the Summer School will expand and deepen their knowledge to be applied in both artistic and educational practice. They will also gain inspiration for applying the Duncan Method in teaching at conservatories, arts-focused secondary schools, elementary art schools, elementary schools, special education schools, and in the context of recreational education.

The seminar consists of 24 hours. Upon completion of the seminar, participants will receive a certificate.

The Summer School will take place from August 23–25, 2026.

The price for the seminar is 4,800 CZK.

We are accepting applications until June 15, 2026. The course capacity is limited, so we recommend registering as soon as possible.
