Repertoire and gaga with Nataša Novotná

In October 2026, 4th and 5th-year students once again had the unique opportunity to work with the renowned dancer, choreographer, and teacher Nataša Novotná. The students were introduced to the unique movement language known as Gaga. The 5th-year students also worked on selected repertoire.

Education

Nataša Novotná is a dancer, choreographer, instructor, co-founder of the 420PEOPLE dance company, and the founder of the Kylián Foundation in Prague. She is involved in initiatives to support Czech contemporary dance and is a member of the board of directors of the professional organization Vize tance. As an educator, she teaches at dance conservatories, the Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) in Prague, and with dance companies in the Czech Republic and abroad. She is an instructor at the Nová scéna Dance Studio, which offers classes in both contemporary and classical dance; since 2017, she has been teaching the Gaga movement method, developed by world-renowned choreographer Ohad Naharin.

In 1997, she was engaged by the Dutch company Nederlands Dans Theater 2 (NDT2), led by Jiří Kylián. From 2000 to 2002, she danced with the Göteborgs Operan Ballet in Sweden, and since 2002 she has been a member of the main company of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT1). She has collaborated with leading international choreographers, including J. Kylián, O. Naharin, W. Forsythe, M. Eke, Crystal Pite, Meryl Tancard, and others. Since 2007, she has been working independently, focusing on contemporary dance.
